The Squee Round Up

WHAT I READ THIS MONTH

Updates from the Queen of SQUEEE! 🤗

April was such a great month to get my read on! So far I've clocked nine books, and I'm now enjoying three more which I hope to finish before the end of the month. I've only got 5 days left and I still need to get through A Court of Mist and Fury in time for the ACOWAR Release!!! Yikes!

So far I've read enough book to get me ahead on my Goodreads Challenge! Having audiobooks around really helps with my overall progress since I could still enjoy my books while doing mundane everyday tasks like cooking, cleaning and (ugh!) walking. I almost burned myself with the coffeepot listening to A CONJURING OF LIGHT which was (sadly) the last book of the Shades of Magic series by VE Schwab. BUT I did manage to score a signed copy of the hardback from Books of Wonder so that cheered me up somewhat. Yay!!

Also, if you've been following me on my Instagram account, you'd know that I and my bookish friend Bette just finished reading NEVERNIGHT and we are just soo stoked over the book! Go give her page, BetteHa.com a visit coz it's awesome and funny! I'm in a bit of a book hangover from the escapades of the great Mia Corvere, but the thought of the next book coming out soon is something I look forward too.

Unfortunately, not all my books were extremely SQUEEE-able. A couple of them being Netgalley reads scored a lackluster 3 SQUEES which is basically translated to "I liked it enough to finish it, but I did not love it." Which was a shame since these books had really great blurbs and the covers were totally cool. Sigh. This is what I get for being such a judge-y reader. LOL

Speaking of Netgalley, I was soo psyched to have scored review copies of books from two of my favorite authors, Victoria Laurie AND Kevin Kwan!!! I got to read the newest installment in their book series and reviews and reader reactions will be posted up on the blog soon! As a loyal reader of their books in the past years, it meant a lot to me to have been able to enjoy these books. It totally made my month!!

So, which books did you read that are totally Squee-able? 🤗 I'd love to hear about them and maybe include them in my list for next month! Feel free to send me your recommendations in the comments section below! I look forward to babbling about books with you!

• APRIL BOOKS I READ: •

  • Belle's Tale, a Beauty and the Beast Manga by Mallory Reaves 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
  • The Beast's Tale, a Beauty and the Beast Manga by Mallory Reaves 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
  • Firebolt by Adrienne Woods 🤗🤗🤗
  • A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

• CURRENTLY READING: •

  • The Handmaid's Tale -- started April 1 2017, on Kindle, but will finish on paperback
    • Yes I know, it's taking me a while to get through this. Though it's not my usual pick, I'm enjoying the story so far. I have to admit, I did just read it because I was curious about the series. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
  • A World without Princes -- started April 24 2017, on Audiobook
    • Hoping that the second book in the series will be better than the first but I am not holding my breath. I would have just stopped, but my OC gene wants me to finish the series. Sophie's stubbornness and one track mind are seriously getting on my nerves. Grrrr. 🤗🤗
  • A Court of Thorns and Roses -- started April 25 2017, on Hardbound
    • I'm about a quarter through and I must say, re-reading it makes me like the book better. It gives me a new perspective on the characters and the story which is good. Don't hate me, but it took a WHILE to finish this the first time around, and I ended up not liking it too much. In fairness, I was reading this while planning my wedding, going through the wedding, enjoying my honeymoon, surviving a sucky LDR as a married couple and preparing for a move halfway across the world. So there, LIFE kind of got in the way that time. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
